Announcing the July 30th talk “Challenges for humans and wildlife coexisting in a developing world”

Published by Steve Clark on

Please join us for a live online presentation by Dr. Jessica Sanchez, M.S., D.V.M, on Thursday July 30th at 6:30 pm. The number of attendees is strictly limited so we recommend you sign up immediately!

Here is a brief description of Dr. Sanchez’s talk… As human populations continue to expand and modify the landscapes around them, wildlife must adapt to these changes and live alongside humans or be confined to shrinking pockets of wilderness. In this virtual presentation, Dr. Jessica Sanchez will discuss the impacts that urban development has on wildlife connectivity, exposure to toxins and infectious diseases, and human-wildlife conflicts.

Dr. Sanchez has attained the degrees of Master of Science in Wildlife Studies and Doctor of Veterinary Medicine. A Conejo Valley native, she has been engaged in research at the University of California at Davis on infectious disease transmission and epidemic prevention strategies in Channel Island foxes, determining threats to mountain lion persistence and options for their conservation in urban Southern California, and, more recently, investigating the pattern of disease transmission in endangered bighorn sheep.

To sign up for this event, go to http://cosf.org/events/register/ and fill in the form. We will send instructions on how to join the presentation to people who sign up the day before the event.

This is a free event. We suggest a donation of $10 to help us continue with our activities.
