The Conejo Open Space Foundation voted in three new officers and re-elected a current one to head the nonprofit, all-volunteer organization at its February 7 board meeting. The terms of the new executive group begins March 1.

Jerry Westby, who served as COSF’s President for 3 years, stepped down and board member Anne M. Russell, who has chaired the Outreach Committee for the past 2 years, was elected to replace him. Westby will continue to serve as a board member, working closely with the Scholarship Committee to award scholarships to college-bound Ventura County high schoolers committed to environmental stewardship, and building relationships with other nonprofits and prospective supporters.

Tania Garcia, on COSF’s board since last year, steps into the Vice President’s role, replacing Brendan Callahan, who resigned from the board in December.

Steve Johnson, who has served as COSF’s Treasurer since 2020, was re-elected and continues in the position.

Marcella Ketelhut, who has been on the COSF board since 2019, stepped into the vacant Secretary role.

The new officers are looking forward to continuing 27-year-old COSF’s mission of protecting and promoting the Conejo Open Space through education and advocacy for public lands. Says. Russell, “I’m thrilled to serve with this smart and active group of board members. We want  to build on COSF’s history of working with the community to enhance our open space.”
