New Trail Closures: Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa trails to close during the weekend

Published by Steve Clark on

The National Park Service has announced that Ventura County Trails within the Santa Monica Mountains National Recreation Area (SMMNRA) will be closed over weekends until further notice. All trails, parking areas, visitor centers and other facilities in LA County have already been closed 24/7 until further notice. What is new is that the closure now extends to Ventura County trails and parking area, including highway overlooks, but only on the weekend. The closure extends from 2:00 pm on Fridays until 6:00 am on Monday mornings.

For Thousand Oaks residences, the largest impact will be in Rancho Sierra Vista/Satwiwa. It adjoins the COSCA open space of Rancho Potrero and Pt. Mugu State Park, both of which are completely closed for the time being. Other trails and areas subject to the weekend closures are the Sandstone Peak, Mishe Mokwa, Canyon View and Grotto Trails, and the Yerba Buena segment of the Backbone Trail.

Please respect all trail closures to help prevent the spread of this deadly corona virus!
