The 2024 Trails Education Days provided lessons on open space for 1,053 Conejo 4th grade students from all 17 CVUSD elementary schools.

Writing Contest

The students who participate in Trails Education Days are invited to enter a letter-writing contest to describe some of the things they learned during their Trails Education Days experience. Two winners from each school and five Grand Prize winners district-wide are chosen to receive cash awards as well as recognition by the Thousand Oaks City Council and the CRPD Board of Directors.

The 2024 Grand Prize winners are:

  • Emerson Kuther, Westlake Hills Elementary School
  • Nicole Fetche, Sycamore Canyon Elementary School
  • Carolyn Wei, Lang Ranch Elementary School
  • June Crowe, Banyan Elementary School
  • Aaroosh Das, EARThS Magnet School

The grand prize winners are shown with the CRPD General Manager Jim Friedl, directors Nellie Cusworth, Chuck Huffer, Marissa Buss, Chair George Lange, and Doug Nickles, and Supervising COSCA Ranger Kory Prindle.
