The online presentation about wildlife in our communities and rehabilitation of injured animals will be next week. You have only a few more days to register for what will certainly be an informative, engaging and timely presentation!
Jenn Guess, Development Manager for the California Wildlife Center (CWC), will complete our 2021 Speaker Series with her talk, “Wildlife in Our Neighborhood.” She will tell us about wildlife rehabilitation and release at the Calabasas wildlife hospital. This event will be held via Zoom on Thursday December 16th at 7:00 pm. We will send instructions on how to join the Zoom webinar to people who sign up (how to do this is described below) the day before the event. The number of attendees is limited so we recommend you sign up immediately!
Jenn will explain common reasons why wild animals end up being brought to the Calabasas-based CWC and how they are rehabilitated. She will also talk about small changes that we the public can make to reduce our impact on wildlife and how to handle conflicts between people and animals. The mission of the 23-year-old CWC, which has treated over 60,000 animals representing 170 species, is to protect native wildlife through conservation, education, and animal rescue and rehabilitation.
Ms. Guess, who started at the nonprofit Center in 2012 as a volunteer, was hired the following year as an animal care coordinator and then as the senior wildlife technician supervisor. After almost 10 years of hands-on work in the Intensive Care Unit and Orphan Care Unit, Guess was promoted to her current role of Development Manager.
