The Arroyo Conejo Creek cleanup – volunteers removed truckloads of trash!

The first all-volunteer Arroyo Conejo Creek cleanup, on September 21, resulted in over 20 volunteers removing 2 to 3 tons of trash from the creek; that works out to an average of over 200 lbs. per person! Scroll down to see a photo gallery of people in action. This was Conejo Valley's contribution to California Coastal Cleanup Day.

Guided by COSCA rangers, volunteers were given gloves, buckets and picker-upper sticks so they didn't have to touch anything with their bare hands. Included in the haul were a shopping cart, chairs, tables, bike parts, clothing, shoes and lots of plastic bags, bottles and food containers. The trash was put in large bags and loaded onto COSCA trucks. Truckloads of trash were thus removed.

This beautiful riparian area looks so much better now, and thank you to all the volunteers who came out to help! Their work contributed towards being awarded a TeamConejo Volunteer T-shirt.
