COSF Support for Wildlife Crossing Reaches $50,000 Total

With an $18,750 check presented on July 13 by President Bill Miller to National Wildlife Federation Deputy Director for California Lauren Gill, COSF is proud to have contributed a total of $50,000 toward the construction of the Wallis Annenberg Wildlife Crossing.
COSF’s first donation in support of the crossing was made in June, 2020, with COSF pledging $10,000. Over the course of the next five years, COSF added to that. Much of those funds came from donors who earmarked their gifts for COSF’s Julie Osborn-Gourley Memorial Fund.
Osborn-Gourley, a lifelong environmentalist and nature lover, was a longtime COSF president, serving from 2003 to 2013. Prior to that, she was COSF secretary, ultimately putting in 20 years of volunteer service to COSF. She worked tirelessly on Trails Education Days and was instrumental in the creation of the COSF Adopt-A-Trail program. She also served as a Trail Watch volunteer and participated in countless trailwork events.
On January 23, 2020, Osborn-Gourley passed away while on an archaeological tour in Ethiopia and COSF established the Memorial Fund in her name shortly thereafter.
The ribbon cutting for the completed crossing is slated for December 2 with festivities scheduled at King Gillette Ranch.
