Sage volunteers, COSCA rangers, and COSF board members recovered about 100 lbs of trash from the Conejo Canyons Trailhead.

Nine volunteers from Sage Publishing joined COSF board members Anne and Tania and COSCA rangers Joe and Ryan to clean up the Conejo Canyons Trailhead in Newbury Park on October 20. A short walk from Sage’s offices on Conejo Spectrum St., the trailhead was in need of attention not only because of windblown food wrappers and other debris, but because someone had illegally dumped broken patio furniture and a carpet.

The team picked up trash in the parking lot, at the start of the trail, and along Conejo Center Dr., ultimately collecting over 100 lbs. of garbage. One of the more valuable finds was a vintage Mustang hubcap, but most of the trash was just that—trash, including a lot of cigarette butts, cans and bottles.

Sage’s group, led by corporate events planner Ana Rubio, scored points for the company in the Ventura County Corporate Games, adding to those some participants had already racked up by volunteering for COSCA’s Fall Trail Work Day on October 15.
