Congratulations to Randy Gould of Thousand Oaks who provided the correct answer and was selected as the winner. Thanks to all who entered the contest!

The Potrero Ridge Trail stretches from Wendy Drive in Newbury Park west to Via Las Brisas in Dos Vientos. The section in the photo is just west of Reino Rd. You can see the trail on the map in the Dos Vientos web page.

The trail is a favorite for many hikers and mountain bikers, in part because it is conveniently close to many neighborhoods, and in part because of the great views that can be had from the tops of the ridges.

This trail, constructed by volunteers, took several years to complete. We started building during the COSCA 2004 Annual Fall Trail Work Day (see photos) and finished during the Spring Trail Work Day in 2007 (photos). A year or so later, the western section of this segment was rerouted around a steep ridgeline segment. The original part is still open so you can choose your route.

During construction, the rangers told us that initially the switchbacks hadn’t been so tight, but some neighbors complained about being able to see the trail, so they had to restrict the area that was available for building.
