The next trail work day is January 27 in Wildwood Park

Published by Steve Clark on

Join the COSCA rangers and other enthusiastic volunteers to help fix up the trails in Wildwood Regional Park! If you’re looking for for some ways to get exercise and expend some calories after the holiday feasting season, this is your ticket. And get credit towards scoring a swanky TeamConejo volunteer T-shirt (details below).

The work will be in Wildwood Regional Park, fixing ruts and cutting back weeds. Monthly work days are organized by the Conejo Open Space Conservation Agency (COSCA), with support from COSF.

Work starts at 8:00 am and goes until 11:00 am. Meet at the main Wildwood Parking area at the corner of Avenida De Los Arboles and Big Sky Drive. You should arrive a few minutes early to take care of registration details.

In order to participate, you will need to sign up online. The work will be done under the guidance of COSCA rangers.

As always, prepare and dress appropriately for trail work.

  • Wear solid boots with good lug soles to keep your grip on a possibly slippery trail. Absolutely no sandals or flip-flops!
  • Bring lots of water! It can be hot and there may not be any shade
  • Bring a hat, work gloves and sunglasses or other eye protection
  • Long-sleeved shirts and long pants are strongly recommended
  • Use sunblock on exposed skin
  • Leave your 4-legged friends at home

No experience is necessary. COSCA rangers and other experienced trail crew leaders will provide hand tools and instruction on how to use them safely and effectively.

Finally, we have a new program of giving chic T-shirts to our frequent volunteers – those who come to three COSCA trail work events. Read our blog post for all the details.
