Congratulations to Jef Kurfess of Westlake Village who provided the correct answer and was selected as the winner. Thanks to all who responded!

The beautiful White Horse Canyon Trail is part of the Los Robles Trail and Open Space system. The photo shows the north end of the trail. It was taken from the Los Robles East Trail near where the White Horse Canyon Trail ends. From there, it climbs up the ridge line to meet the Brookview Trail where there are awesome views of Westlake Lake, the Las Virgines reservoir and even a sliver of Lake Sherwood. After 2.1 miles, the trail ends at the south on Potrero Road across from the Foxfield Riding School, where part of the 1938 film with Errol Flynn, Adventures of Robin Hood, was filmed. The derivation of the name, White Horse Canyon trail, might have been related to the riding school, but the actual derivation is lost in the mists of time.

White Horse Canyon TrailThe trail is part of popular loop routes enjoyed by hikers and mountain bikers, along with the Los Robles and the Brookview Trails. Because of the number of connecting trails with access to the street in this area, several interesting loops can be assembled. Excursions often start at the Triunfo Canyon Trail or the Los Padres Trail.

There is no parking at the south end of the White Horse Canyon Trail itself, but there is parking on the neighborhood streets about a block away.
