Congratulations to Tamara Napier of Newbury Park who provided the correct answer and was selected as the winner. Thanks to all who responded!

The Powerline Trail (also known as the Conejo Mountain Edison Road Trail) is in the northern part of the  Dos Vientos Trail System. The Powerline Trail’s main trailhead is on Via Ricardo in Dos Vientos, west of Via Pisa. You can extend the hike by half a mile (each way) by parking at Dos Vientos Community Park and taking the Park View Trail to the Via Ricardo trailhead. There is a trail map on the COSF website – http://cosf.org/trails/dos-vientos/.

The trail has a fairly long, steep ascent as it traverses the side of Conejo Mtn. After cresting the ascent on the Edison Road, you get into very picturesque territory with rock formations that provide almost a lunar landscape, and get more interesting the higher you climb. The views from a number of points are amazing of Boney Mountain, the Oxnard Plain, the Channel Islands (on a clear day) and Thousand Oaks. The vegetation is primarily chaparral and coastal sage which provide a home for a variety of wildlife. Note: there’s no shade on the hike so it’s best to do it in the morning.
